Gotcha attends IFA! 14 sep 2017

From the 31st of august until the 6th of september the IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) took place in Berlin. The slogan ‘Consumer Electronics Unlimited’ already gives away what this event is about. This type of event is extremely valuable to Gotcha for two main reasons: firstly, at IFA the latest trends and developments with regards to electronics are shown to the public, secondly it is a great moment for Gotcha to get in touch with her suppliers in the Far East.

The IFA was organised in the Messe in Berlin. This, without exaggeration, huge complex exists of a total of 26 exhibition halls, each of which has two and some even three floors. Each hall is filled with large, impressive stands that show off the latest novelties when it comes to consumer electronics. The event grounds are large enough to get lost on, we mainly visited the halls that had ‘Home & Entertainment Electronics’ and ‘My Media’ on display. For Gotcha it’s interesting to follow the consumer electronics industry because many of these products are often used as premiums. It’s therefor important to be aware of the latest developments in order to make sure our offering stays accurate.

In a separate section, the IFA ‘Global Markets’ were organised this year. Where back in the day you needed to look for suppliers from the Far East in between all the large stands, there now was a dedicated section for these producers a lot of which originate from China. This is an opportune moment to strengthen our relationships with our current suppliers and make new connections. At IFA we were able to make new connections that might be able to help us expand and/or optimise our product offering. At the Global Markets there is a very broad offering of products such as household electronics, like blenders and coffee machines, but also consumer electronics such as speakers and tablets and not to be forgotten the latest gadgets such as activity trackers and smart home systems.

Besides visiting the IFA we of course also enjoyed our visit to Berlin. Whilst enjoying typical German cuisine in a just as typical German ‘Biergarten’, the team discussed the plans for the upcoming period and the take-aways from the event. We are fully up to date when it comes to consumer electronics and look forward to using our newly gained knowledge for our customers.
